Who is God's Fire Church?
God's Fire church is a Christian congregation in Eindhoven. Many churches use the word "congregation" rather than the word "church", because it's not about a building or location, but about the people who get together. What kind of church is God's Fire? To give you an idea, you can name us a 'charismatic' or 'Full gospel' church. We enjoy working together with Christians of different churches and believe in the unity of Christians whether they are Catholic, Protestant, Reformed, Evangelical of Charismatic. Important is just that they believe in Jesus as the only saviour of sin and the only mediator between God and mankind, just like the bible states. In God's Fire church the spoken word is directly taken from God's Word, the bible, and acted on and everyone is stimulated in doing so.
Our church often feels like a family of people from different cultures such as Dutch, Surinam, Antilles, African, Greek, Indonesian and many more cultures. Once every two months we make things extra special by having lunch together. Because we often have guests from abroad, the sermons are translated to English if requested.
Why do we call ourselves God's Fire church?
Many Christian churches have a name that explains the specific calling and God's plan for that church. In the Bible you can read about a man called Abram, whose name meant "exalted father". Later on God gave Him a new name, which was Abraham which means father of a crowd. Abraham's name change had to do with God's promise to him, that his wife whom at first was barren, would later have a son and that from him a large nation would come. In the same way God gave our church a name that has something to do with God's calling and plan for this church. It is God's will that we serve Him fervently by studying His word and doing as He requests, but at the same time He will give us His fire by giving us His Holy Spirit in us. The Holy Spirit stimulates obedience to God, comforts and encourages us and He strengthens the love amongst us and the joy in God's Fire church.
